However, despite these benefits, there are people who shouldn’t include them in their diet, at least not in large quantities. So, who should avoid eating cucumbers?

1. People with Kidney Problems

Health-experts agree that those people who experience kidney issues should mind the intake of foods high in potassium. The reason why is because when kidneys don’t function properly, they struggle to excrete excess potassium, which in turn can build up in the blood and negatively affect heart rhythm and overall cardiac function.

2. Individuals with Sinusitis or Respiratory Illnesses

Cucumbers have strong cooling properties, so when a person struggles with a sinus infection or chronic respiratory issues, cucumbers consumption may increase mucus production or worsen congestion, making symptoms even more uncomfortable.

3. People with Allergies

People allergic to cucumber should avoid consuming it altogether. While cucumber allergies are relatively rare, they can cause a range of symptoms such as urticaria, itching, vomiting, nausea, oral allergy syndrome (OAS), and anaphylaxis.

4. People with Sensitive Digestion

Cucumbers contain a natural compound called cucurbitacin, which can be hard for the digestive system to process. In some cases, this compound may lead to bloating, gas, or discomfort as the body tries to break it down and release the excess air, so people with sensitive digestion should avoid consuming cucumbers, or have them in moderation and peeled.
