The Strange Rise of “Six-Seven”

Every generation invents its own brand of humor — the kind that leaves everyone else completely baffled. Right now, that phrase is “six-seven” (or “6-7”), a term flooding TikTok and confusing parents, teachers, and older internet users everywhere.

At first glance, it sounds like a code or secret slang. But here’s the twist — it means absolutely nothing. And that’s exactly why Gen Z and Gen Alpha love it.

The phrase took off after hip-hop artist Skrilla dropped his 2024 track “Doot Doot,” which included the random lyric:

“6-7, I just bipped right on the highway.”

From there, it exploded across TikTok. Users began throwing “6-7” into conversations, comment sections, and even response videos — often paired with exaggerated gestures and over-the-top delivery. Within months, millions of videos used the phrase, turning it into one of the year’s biggest inside jokes.
