A New Life Beyond Hollywood

After stepping away from American television, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi traded red carpets for rolling hills, moving full-time to England’s idyllic Cotswolds region. The decision came after the end of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2024 and a farewell comedy tour that marked the close of a long chapter in Ellen’s career. What followed was a dramatic lifestyle shift — from Hollywood’s constant glare to the peaceful rhythms of English countryside life.
Famous for its honey-colored villages and sweeping meadows, the Cotswolds became their sanctuary. Longtime home design enthusiasts, the couple channeled their passion for architecture into a new project abroad. They first purchased Kitesbridge Farm — a 43-acre estate valued at around $20 million — and transformed it through meticulous renovation. By 2025, the property was listed again for roughly $30 million, as the pair realized they wanted something even more personal: space for Portia’s beloved horses and room to truly settle in.
That search led them to their permanent home — a sleek, glass-walled farmhouse surrounded by open fields and wooded paths. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty,” Ellen shared. “Everything here feels simpler, calmer.”
