Alaskan climber Balin Miller, 23, tragically fell to his death while attempting to scale Yosemite’s iconic El Capitan. The young adventurer had been live-streaming his ascent in the days leading up to the accident. This marks the third fatality at Yosemite National Park this summer.
Balin’s mother, Jeanine Girard-Moorman, shared her heartbreak on Facebook:
“It is with a heavy heart I have to tell you my incredible son Balin Miller died during a climbing accident today. My heart is shattered in a million pieces. I love him so much. I want to wake up from this horrible nightmare.”
She added, “The mountain took my Balin today — I will never recover.” Park officials confirmed the accident, and the family continues to mourn their loss.
