A quick online search brought both clarity and alarm—they were snail eggs, sometimes called snail caviar. What seemed harmless at first was actually a warning sign. Snails may look innocent, but in large numbers, they can destroy thriving gardens in a single night. Even more unsettling, some species carry parasites harmful to humans.
The delicate spheres that once fascinated me now felt like a silent invasion. I hurried back outside and removed the entire cluster, using boiling water to ensure no hatchlings survived. Then I carefully sifted through the surrounding soil, determined not to let any others go unnoticed.
That day, I learned something important: in nature, danger doesn’t always roar or sting—it can arrive quietly, disguised as something fragile and beautiful, resting just beneath our feet.
