A heartbreaking video has gone viral, capturing the moment 18-year-old Kimber Mills was wheeled past fellow students and community members at University of Alabama Hospital on her way into surgery to become an organ donor.

Kimber, a senior at Cleveland High School in Blount County, Alabama, was one of four victims in a shooting at a party near Palmerdale on Saturday, October 18. Known for her energy, school spirit, and dedication as a cheerleader and track athlete, Kimber had plans to attend the University of Alabama next year to pursue a career in nursing.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight when 27-year-old Steven Tyler Whitehead approached a group at the party, leading to a verbal and physical altercation before firing multiple shots. In addition to Kimber, an 18-year-old man, a 21-year-old man, and a 20-year-old woman were injured. Whitehead has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and is being held on a $180,000 bond.

Kimber was critically injured in the shooting. Her sister, Ashley Mills, explained that Kimber was caught in the crossfire and that the shooter had approached one of Kimber’s friends, sparking the altercation that ended in tragedy.
