Trump Hits Back: Disbarred and Humiliated – A Major Blow to NYC DA Alvin Bragg

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg — a prosecutor often criticized for prioritizing political cases over violent crime — devoted over a year and millions in taxpayer funds to pursue Donald Trump, then a private citizen and former president of the United States.

The case centered on thirty-four felony charges of falsifying business records, stemming from alleged payments to a former adult film actress. From the beginning, legal experts across the political spectrum questioned the legitimacy of the charges, describing them as “novel” and “unprecedented” uses of New York law.

Critics contended that Bragg’s prosecution was politically motivated, pointing to the timing of the case and its extensive media coverage during Trump’s renewed political campaign. Despite widespread doubts, Bragg secured convictions — a result that showcased both the determination and the controversial reach of New York’s justice system.

The ruling, delivered by Judge Juan Merchan, allowed jurors to convict Trump without agreeing on what the alleged secondary crime was, a decision that many legal analysts viewed as setting a troubling precedent.

While Bragg’s supporters saw the verdict as a win for accountability, opponents claimed it marked the politicization of the justice system, suggesting that legal tools were being weaponized against political adversaries rather than used to uphold impartial justice.
