The Homeless Hero Who Stopped a Disaster
The next few hours were a blur of flashing lights, police sirens, and frantic reporters. Authorities confirmed that the device was indeed an explosive—an act of deliberate sabotage. But one question remained: How did the boy know?
When things finally calmed down, Richard found Ethan sitting quietly near the hangar. He motioned for him to follow. Inside his airport office, the billionaire offered him a sandwich and a soda.
“Tell me the truth,” Richard said. “How did you know about the bomb?”
Ethan hesitated, then spoke softly. “I sleep near the hangars sometimes. Last night, I saw two guys messing with the plane. I didn’t think much of it… until I heard you were flying today.”
Richard studied him—a kid who had nothing, yet risked everything. “Where are your parents?” he asked gently.
“They’re gone,” Ethan replied. “It’s just me.”
Something shifted in Richard’s chest. This boy, scrappy and brave, reminded him of himself decades ago. “You’ve got guts, kid,” he said with a faint smile. “How about we find you a place to stay? Somewhere safe.”
Ethan’s eyes widened. “You’d really do that?”
“I owe you more than that,” Richard said simply.
