Crochet, Cobblers, and the Simple Miracles of Everyday Life

Carrie’s passion for handmade living doesn’t end at the garden gate. Her creativity spills over into everything she touches — even her wardrobe. During this year’s American Idol finale, she appeared in a crocheted tomato-themed top she’d made herself, earning smiles from fans who adore her down-to-earth spirit.

Her nurturing instincts extend to the animals, too. She named one of her lambs “Jamal” after the season’s Idol winner, who happened to be born the same day.

During the pandemic, Carrie partnered with Epic Gardening to build her own greenhouse — a space that’s now central to her farm life. “It feels like little miracles every time I get something [to grow],” she said.

But it’s in her kitchen where the heart of her homestead shines brightest. “You look on our plate and everything came from the garden… or my husband, who’s a hunter,” she told The Dr. Josh Axe Show. “It all tastes delicious because it’s food.”

Nothing goes to waste. Scraps feed the chickens, leftovers become compost, and gratitude fills the air. “You’re doing something good for you,” Carrie reflected. “It feels good to physically do all these things.”

Whether she’s crocheting in the greenhouse or praying among peach trees, Carrie Underwood proves that true success isn’t found in fame or luxury — it’s in the peace of a simple life rooted in faith, family, and love for the land.
