Robert Irwin, the 20-year-old wildlife conservationist and son of the late Steve Irwin, delivered one of the most emotional performances of the season during Week 5 of Dancing With the Stars. The night’s theme, “Dedication,” inspired Robert to honor the most important woman in his life — his mother, Terri Irwin.
Performing a Contemporary routine with his partner, Witney Carson, to Phil Collins’ “You’ll Be in My Heart”, Robert transformed the dance floor into a moving tribute to love, grief, and resilience. Before stepping on stage, he spoke candidly about growing up without his father, who passed away when Robert was just two. “At every big moment in my life when I just wished my dad was there,” he shared, “my mum was there — and that was enough.”
Robert praised Terri for her strength, saying she kept Steve’s spirit alive while raising him and his sister Bindi. “She always made sure Dad was still part of our lives,” he said. “I just want to show her how much that means to me — and how proud Dad would be of her.”
