After the surgery, Curry had to wear a protective helmet as his brain was exposed. He underwent years of physical and speech therapy but continued to work in show business despite his new limitations.
Reflecting on the ordeal in Vagabond, Curry said, “It was just astonishing to be lying there… and remarkable that I was still alive.” Now 79, he looks back with gratitude and calm perspective, appreciating every day he’s still with us.
